Chevron Federal Credit Union Data Breach Settlement

CFCU data breach settlement providing cash compensation and identity protection for affected credit union members.

Settlement Overview

This class action settlement resolves claims related to a data security incident at Chevron Federal Credit Union (CFCU) that potentially compromised member personal information. The incident allegedly exposed sensitive member data including names, addresses, Social Security numbers, and account information. Under the settlement terms, affected CFCU members are eligible for compensation including cash payments for time spent dealing with the breach, reimbursement for credit monitoring services, and coverage for identity theft-related expenses. Members can choose from several benefit options, with higher payments available for those who can document specific losses or expenses related to the data breach.

Who Is Eligible?

All current and former CFCU members whose personal information was stored in CFCU's systems during the breach period are eligible to participate in this settlement. This includes checking account holders, savings account holders, loan customers, and credit card holders. Membership status at the time of filing the claim does not affect eligibility.

How to File a Claim

Visit the settlement website and complete the online claim form or download a printable PDF form. You'll need to provide your member information, including account number and the dates you were a CFCU member. The online form takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. Alternatively, you can mail a completed claim form to the address provided on the settlement website.

Documentation Requirements

No documentation is required for the base payment option. If you're claiming reimbursement for specific out-of-pocket expenses such as credit monitoring services, identity theft remediation costs, or fraudulent charges not reimbursed by the credit union, you must provide receipts, invoices, or other documentation of these expenses.

Payout Details

Base payment without documentation: $125-$250. Documented expense reimbursement: up to $7,500. Available benefits include cash compensation, credit monitoring services, and identity theft insurance. The final payment amounts will depend on the total number of valid claims and the settlement fund balance. Payments are expected within 90 days of final approval.
