No proof is required for the standard settlement benefits. Capital One will verify your eligibility based on their records of affected individuals. If you're claiming reimbursement for specific documented losses related to the breach—such as identity theft costs, credit monitoring services you purchased, lost time at $25/hour, or other out-of-pocket expenses—you must submit supporting documentation.
Payout Details
Cash payment without proof: $25-$75. Up to five years of free credit monitoring and identity protection services. Reimbursement for documented losses: up to $20,000 including fraud losses, professional fees, and lost time (up to 15 hours at $25/hour). Enhanced payments for California residents. Actual amounts depend on claim volume. Payments within 90 days of final approval.
